Similar to the works of Loui Jover, this piece was created using ink on a layer of newspaper, pasted onto a Masonite board. This piece is a portrait of a good friend of mine named Christian Navos.

Before creating this piece, I had trouble figuring out what subject matter I had wished to draw. After publicly asking who wanted themselves drawn, Noah approached me first, thus I began drawing his face.

STATUE

In my mind, the tones available with conte pastels lend to a very earthy, and stony subject matter, which is something that old roman statues fit into. This naturally lead me to use those statues as subject matter when faced with the challenge of using conte.
